Born TJ Hicks in Harlem - New York, USA in 1972, TJ has been playing vinyl records since 1990. He is known throughout the Underground of Electronic Dance Music for fusing deep soulful techno with a variety of tastefully selected electronic rhythms.
In 2009 Altroy performed Live Electronics alongside Manfred Sšllner, Philipp Quehenberger, Tobias Lindl, and Didi Kern. Since spending a year in Baltimore, MD USA in 2010, he now continues to concentrate his skill set on Disk Jockey Performance, Production & Composition. He currently records electronic music under the moniker Altroy and has recorded for Home (AT), Eternithouse (SE), NightVision (NL) and his own imprint Minimalsoul (AT), where he has made releases from known and less-known international artists.
In 2002 he founded and began the groundwork for Minimalsoul Recordings while based in San Francisco, California. In 2003 he immigrated to Europe and continued the groundwork for Minimalsoul under his given name TJ Hicks and succeeding through the evolving digital media platforms to release the first 12 inch Vinyl records in the spring of 2007 and continues to release recordings deriving from the label today. Minimalsoul releases a variety of soulful, modern and abstract music. [changing the way you listen..] is the basic concept of the label. Contributions come from international artists such as Orlando Voorn, Shawn Rudiman, DJ T-1000 and Aaron Carl.
He has played at various events across America, Austria, Bahrain, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland and the UK to perform his unique mix of Underground Electronic Dance Music. Some memorable events and club nights include; The Drome in London, England | Flex in Vienna, Austria | The Monastery - Abbey de Blanchelande in Normandy, France | Club Yellow in Tokyo, Japan (R.I.P.) and Sven Vaeth s Cocoon/Micro Club in Frankfurt, Germany.
